Join The Wonder Society for a special morning at a local fiber farm, where we'll discover the journey of wool from sheep to yarn!
We'll begin in the barn, meeting the farm's friendly sheep, offering them treats, and learning what it takes to raise and care for a flock. We'll discover how sheep are sheared, explore the different stages of preparing their fleece, and get our own hands busy carding wool.
The children will also have an opportunity to create something with wool, possibly trying their hand at needle felting, before enjoying a snack together.
This hands-on morning offers a wonderful glimpse into the traditional skills and everyday work behind the wool we use for knitting, weaving, and other fiber arts.
This is the first event in a two part series on wool. The second event will be a drop spindle workshop at Connected Stitches in Dryden.
Meet and feed the sheep, learn how they’re cared for and sheared, and discover how their fleece becomes yarn. Children will try their hand at carding wool, create a wool craft, and enjoy a snack together.
